Blood Agar Base pH 7.4 is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious microorganisms. Meat Peptone and Heat Infusion from Solids provide nutrients like amino acids, peptides, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. Sodium Chloride maintains the osmotic balance and Agar serves as gelifying agent. The growth of Streptococci and Pneumococci is considerably improved in comparison to Blood Agar Base No 2.
